1. I am a theatre artist that is dedicated to making theatre in places that aren’t theatres and for people that think they hate theatre.
  2. I believe that theatre has the power to help change the world.
  3. I believe that, at the very least, theatre inspires dialogue.
  4. I believe that the days of quiet reflection of a play on the commute home are over and audiences should be asked to get involved in the resistance against fascism before leaving the venue.
  5. I believe that the canon should be burned to the ground and that truly “great” plays will stick around because they are great and not simply because people say they are.
  6. I believe that all theatre is political. Especially, your all-white production of The Music Man.
  7. I believe that taste is a theatre artist’s best friend.
  8. I believe that theatre should be as inexpensive as possible and often should be free.
  9. I believe that people should be the most expensive part of your production’s budget.
  10. I believe that the only theatre worth seeing is the kind that is made by people who love and respect each other.
  11. I believe that theatre artists (especially in leadership positions) that don’t take risks should find another line of work.
  12. I believe that I am never closer to the Divine than I am in a theatre.
