My name is Shaun Leisher and I am a new play dramaturg, director, playwright and producer currently based in Allentown, PA.
I love new play development, having fun in rehearsal rooms, podcasts, deep conversations over coffee, meeting new people, the horror genre, folk music, deconstructing musicals, spoken word poetry, museums and weird dance pieces.
I have been in rooms where I have led and have been led and I can switch between both roles with great ease, I bring a wealth of knowledge about the current theatre landscape and vastly different kinds of plays, I bring a deep curiosity into the writing process and I bring the perspective of an audience member who just wants to be enthralled with a piece of theatre
I am constantly reading and championing the work of artists that look nothing like me and I look forward to bringing them to “stages” near me, I am creating theatre that goes to where people are instead of asking them to come to me and my stuffy building, I am creating theatre for people that never thought theatre was for them, I am creating theatre that doesn’t see New York as the gold standard, when I “retire” I am going to start a theatre company in Maine that specializes in horror plays which will include Stephen King as a board member and I’m writing my first play this year.
